Lella and Massimo Vignelli designed the Max collection in 1964, and it won Italy's top industrial design award that same year, the Compasso d'Oro. Heller's founder found the original stacking dishware in a museum in the late 1960s, tracked down the Vignellis, and brought it back into production.
