New in from England

Little paper characters, cut and collaged by hand.

Hadley is Jo Hadley, painting, cutting and collaging in her studio in the South West of England. Her cards don't sit flat on the mantel. Santa stands up on his own, the reindeer is cut to the shape of his antlers, and a whole snowy street folds down to fit an envelope.

We fell for them at first sight and brought a big box of them home to Portland. They are blank inside, so the best part is still up to you.

Paint

Jo starts with paint and patterned paper. Some sheets are painted plain, some are marbled by hand, all of them become somebody's coat, roof or wing.

2

Cut and collage

Every character is cut out piece by piece and built up in layers, a bit like a paper puppet. That is where the faces come from.

3

Print and fold

The finished collage is printed on heavy card and die cut, so Santa can stand, the cracker can pull and the houses can fold out.

Christmas cards, cut and pasted by hand

Cards that stand up, fold out and turn into decorations. Most of them end up on a shelf until January, and some never come down.

And for the rest of the year

Birthdays, thank yous and just-because cards, plus the gift tags, wrap and washi tape to finish the job.

Every Moss & Fog order can come with a free handwritten note from us, and a Hadley card makes a very good second one.
